I sat under a big oak tree in the gentle, green English countryside
for three days, feeling the wind and the elements brush against my face, the cool September air taking my prayers
Connecting in meditation with the world of sound
to birth my instrument
from silence and right intention.
Both a meditative and artistic process,
I battled my shadows as I pounded the metal
Transforming the flat, hard, cold but warm-coloured brass
into a melting, mutable substance of multicoloured hues.
Scrubbing clean the impurities of heart and mind,
Alchemicalising self and spirit,
mirrored at all times in the process and in the metal itself.
My intention for this bowl:
to be a channel for peace
And from this place of peace
To be a vessel to receive.
The alchemy of this bowl:
to help you tune into peace.
